I’m pinching myself. It’s been less then 2 months since I officially launched Curated Cabin and someone all the way in California has found me and enlisted my help in redesigning her family’s RV. The Internet is a really crazy place. I’ve been working away sourcing (mostly textiles and art since furniture is all permanent) and project advising already and I’ll be sharing moodboards here next week. This isn’t their full-time home so fortunately they aren’t living through the renos or working on any strict timelines for getting them done… but the sooner the better, of course. Below are some before photos (with some demo already in progress):
The family has owned the RV for 2 years and hasn’t done a thing so they are very eager to start making it more reflective of their style. The carpet and linoleum was ripped up this week and dark rustic wide planked wood floors have been installed in their place — already much more practical for a family with 2 young kids. The walls have been white washed with Benjamin Moore Simply White which is a large step up from the ‘Granny’ light sucking wallpaper that once adorned the walls. We are still figuring out what to do about all of the cabinetry. My client has friends who painted their RV’s veneer cabinets and they aren’t holding up so well. That being said we aren’t moving forward without more research. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. The best option I’ve found so far is this. Obviously painting all of that wood would be the most dramatic change and allow for REAL wood accents… so please, send up a flare if you know of a long lasting solution.
